Species, specs and finish options

Everything listed here is what we actually work with day to day. Ask us before ordering if your project calls for a species, size or finish that isn't shown.

Wood options

Species we mill

Poplar

Even, closed grain. The usual choice for painted and primed trim.

Pine

Economical for painted work and utility profiles such as quarter round.

Red Oak

Open grain with strong figure; takes stain well on casing and rails.

White Oak

Denser and more stable, used for taller baseboards and feature trim.

Hard Maple

Tight grain and a pale surface; good for clear-coated modern trim.

Walnut

Dark, rich figure for decorative bands and short feature runs.

Availability varies with the market. If a species is short, we'll tell you at quoting time and offer an alternative rather than substituting without asking.

Thickness: 0.5" through 1.25" nominal
Standard lengths: 6 ft, 8 ft and 12 ft; cut lengths on request
Thickness tolerance: ±0.015" across the run
Length tolerance: +0.125" / −0" on cut-to-length orders
Moisture target: 6–9% at the time of machining

Wood is a natural material; colour, grain and minor character marks vary between pieces and between runs.

Unfinished

Sanded ready for finishing on site.

Primed

One coat of primer, cured and ready for topcoat.

Painted

Factory-applied colour coat over primer.

Stained

Stain applied to your sample or a shop standard.

Clear coat

Clear protective coat over natural wood.

Inspection

Quality inspection procedure

Moisture content and straightness checked on incoming stock.
First piece off each setup measured against the profile drawing.
Profile and thickness spot-checked during the run.
Surfaces inspected after sanding and again after finishing.
Piece count verified against the order before bundling.

We do not hold or claim third-party certifications, environmental marks or regulatory approvals. What we can provide is the profile drawing, the species and finish used, and the inspection record for your order.
