Manufacturing Process
Every order moves through the same seven stages, whether it's 100 linear feet of quarter round or a custom crown matched to a 1920s original.

01
Material preparation
Incoming lumber is checked for moisture content, straightness and defects. Boards are ripped to width and stacked so they acclimate before machining.
02
Cutting & profiling
Stock is run through the moulder with knives ground for the profile. The first piece is measured against the drawing before the balance of the run is cut.
03
Profile machining
Detail work — coves, beads, dentil bands, rebates and returns — is machined where the profile calls for it, including one-off custom shapes.
04
Sanding
Wide-belt sanding levels the faces, then edges and detail are hand-sanded so the profile stays crisp and takes finish evenly.
05
Finishing
Primer, stain, paint or clear coat applied as ordered, then cured on racks. Unfinished orders are sanded ready for site finishing.
06
Quality inspection
Dimensions, profile match and surface are checked against the order. Pieces that miss the spec are pulled and re-run.
07
Packaging & order preparation
Pieces are counted, bundled and protected for transit, then staged for pickup, LTL or freight out of Porum.
